Knebworth Community Chorus presented its Christmas Carols concert at the Knebworth Village Hall on Saturday 17th December 2016, led by Musical Director and conductor, Derek Harrison.

The choir sang a wide range of seasonal numbers, encompassing a wide geography, ranging from Spain and Ukraine to southern Africa and northern America, as well as pace and style of piece.  The arrangement and performance of Kwmbayah had a particularly positive reception. Soloists from the choir were Suzanne Andrea (Inkosi Jesu) and on the flute Bethany Luckins and Karen Wallace-Poultney (Silent Night).

Other soloists were a number of young instrumentalists who performed solos or duets: Evelyn Athill (cello), Megan Stringer (violin), William Lowe and Dominic Sanchez (violin), Heather Roper (piano), all accompanied by their teacher Sam Jellett.

The audience joined in with some traditional carols enthusiastically, assisted by refreshments served courtesy of the Knebworth Womens Institute, and accompanied, along with a number of the pieces performed by the choir, by Simon Marlow (piano).

This Christmas season, Knebworth Community Chorus gave a carol concert to residents at Constance Place, sang carols at Knebworth House, and also appeared in support of Kim Wilde, Hal Fowler and friends, as part of a concert in aid of Waste Not Want Not.
